These strains can enter the central nervous system and cause memory problems for a month after catching the virus.

Bird flu was also found to change brain genes making sufferers more prone to depression, autism and schizophrenia.
The strains damage the hippocampus in the centre of the brain by causing inflammation, a study on mice found.
But swine flu does not cause long-term effects on the brain, scientists at Braunschweig University in Germany said.
